A decade of providing effective communications and marketing expertise grounded by a deep understanding of the seafood sectors’ people, pressures, practices and products.
It is a privilege to work in the New Zealand seafood sector, one of country’s most important, generating $5.2 billion in economic output annually, and employing an estimated 16,500 people.
The Nelson Tasman region is at the heart of the sector, being home to the largest seafood processing port in Australasia and major fishing and aquaculture companies, all serviced by one of the country’s largest marine service sectors.
Over the last decade, Publik’s indepth knowledge of the sector’s fantastic people and its every changing complexities has seen us provide effective strategic communications, media relations and event support to sector leaders and industry bodies; for deepwater and inshore finfish commercial operators, seafood processors, aquaculture salmon and mussel farmers, sector associations, government agencies and research organisations.
We have provided media relations support for companies and organisations, achieving more than 100 positive or balanced media stories and published opinion pieces. We have also provided reactive responses to media on issues as they have arisen, in a fast turnaround media environment.
During the Government-mandated Covid-19 lockdowns, the seafood sector was an essential service, feeding the nation and earning New Zealand crucial export dollars. During this time we provided strategic input into communications strategies, drafted internal and stakeholder communications, managed media enquiries and social media channels.
In 2024, Publik Managing Director Emma Thompson accepted the WISA Seafood Star award at the SNZ conference for the Publik’s team work establishing the Seafood Saturday events and for strategic support and media coverage achievements for the sector.
